Statement of Faith

What We Believe

At Trinity Church, we believe it’s all about Jesus—all about the good news of God’s redemption of the world through the life, death, and resurrection of his Son. We are a community of people who are driven by this good news, this gospel.

The gospel—the good news—is that the crucified and risen Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah of Israel, the true king of all the nations, and the Redeemer of the world. We wholehearted affirm the historic Christian faith as set forth in the great creeds. Specifically, we believe in…

  • the existence, perfection, and triune nature of God—Father, Son, & Holy Spirit;
  • the revelation of God in creation, in history, and supremely in Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word of God;
  • the inspiration and authority of the Holy Scriptures, God’s written Word;
  • God’s creation of the world, and his of humanity in his image;
  • humanity’s rebellion and subsequent alienation from God;
  • the person and work of Jesus Christ, including his divine nature, virgin birth, true humanity, sacrificial death, bodily resurrection, and ascension to heaven;
  • the Holy Spirit’s work both in regeneration and in justification, which is received solely through faith in Jesus Christ;
  • the necessity of growth in the knowledge of God and Christian obedience;
  • the church as the creation of the Holy Spirit, called to proclaim the gospel to the nations;
  • the centrality of worship in the life of the church & the importance of the gospel sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion; and
  • the return of Christ to raise the dead and to judge the world.
